As the world becomes increasingly digital, women and girls continue to face unequal access to technology and the internet. This digital divide limits their ability to learn, work, advocate, and connect safely. Beyond access, women who are active online— especially activists, journalists, or professionals—are disproportionately targeted by online harassment, threats, sexual abuse, and cyberbullying. These attacks often go unpunished and lead to silencing, self-censorship, and emotional trauma, especially among younger women and girls. The lack of inclusive digital spaces and robust online protections worsens existing inequalities, creating new barriers in education, employment, safety, and participation in public discourse.
Awareness & Education for Digital Equity
At WakeUp Her, we believe that digital access is a human right and that every woman and girl should be empowered to use technology confidently and safely. Through our digital literacy programs, we educate women and girls on safe internet use, online rights, and digital tools for empowerment, including financial apps, e-learning platforms, and secure communication tools.
We also work to destigmatize women’s presence in digital spaces, promoting a culture that sees female voices as vital—not vulnerable. Our awareness campaigns challenge online misogyny and advocate for more inclusive tech design that serves women’s needs, abilities, and experiences—especially for those in rural, low-income, or marginalized communities.
Support, Protection & Digital Safety Advocacy
To address online abuse and inequality, WakeUp Her provides reporting support, digital safety training, and emotional care for women who experience cyber-harassment. We advocate for stronger enforcement of anti-harassment laws, improved platform accountability, and the integration of gender-sensitive safety features in social and digital tools.
We also collaborate with tech companies, schools, and community groups to close the gender digital gap by offering access to devices, connectivity, and mentorship. Our goal is a world where women are not only digitally included—but also digitally protected, respected, and empowered to thrive in the online world just as they deserve in the real one.
