Inadequate healthcare access and high maternal mortality rates continue to claim the lives and well-being of women—especially in underserved, low-income, and marginalized communities. Every day, women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy, childbirth, and lack of basic medical care. Many more suffer in silence from untreated health conditions, postpartum complications, and mental health issues due to poor infrastructure, discrimination, or lack of awareness.
At WakeUp Her, we believe that quality healthcare is a fundamental human right—not a privilege. A woman’s life should never be at risk because of where she lives, how much she earns, or what her background is. Whether it’s access to safe delivery, contraception, menstrual care, or psychological support, we are committed to creating a world where women’s health is prioritized, protected, and fully supported.
Awareness & Education for Women's Health Rights
Educating communities about women’s unique healthcare needs is essential to closing the gap in services and saving lives. Far too often, maternal and reproductive health are neglected in public health education, leaving women uninformed about their rights, choices, and warning signs of complications. WakeUp Her works to raise awareness about the importance of prenatal care, mental wellness, reproductive health, and postpartum support.
We run health literacy workshops, community dialogues, and campaigns to break taboos around menstruation, childbirth, and maternal mental health. We also educate families and partners—so women are not navigating these challenges alone. Through education, we aim to dismantle stigma, empower informed decisions, and build a culture that respects and values women’s health.
Support, Access & Maternal Care Advocacy
WakeUp Her provides direct support and referral services for women struggling to access the care they need. We connect women to affordable clinics, maternal care services, and mental health resources, particularly in rural and immigrant communities where services are scarce. We also advocate for inclusive health policies, emergency obstetric care, and mental health integration in maternal services.
Our outreach includes pre- and postnatal care support, grief counseling for maternal loss, and emergency aid for at-risk pregnancies. We work with healthcare providers to promote culturally safe, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed care for all women— regardless of background or circumstance. At WakeUp Her, we believe that no woman should die while giving life, and we fight every day to make that belief a reality.
