Lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other gender-diverse women face widespread violence, stigma, and exclusion—from both mainstream society and within women’s spaces. They are often denied access to healthcare, legal protection, housing, and employment because of their identity. Many experience homophobia, transphobia, and social rejection—even from their own families—leading to higher risks of mental health issues, homelessness, and poverty. Their rights, safety, and dignity are frequently undermined, despite their equal place in the fight for gender justice.
Awareness & Inclusive Education
At WakeUp Her, we work to build inclusive communities by educating society about the experiences and rights of LGBTQ+ women. Our awareness efforts focus on ending stigma and dismantling stereotypes that fuel discrimination and violence. We develop programs that provide gender diversity training, LGBTQ+ rights education, and intersectionality workshops in schools, workplaces, and public institutions. We promote media representation and storytelling that affirms queer identities and celebrates the strength of LGBTQ+ women, ensuring they are seen, respected, and empowered.
Support & Safe Spaces
WakeUp Her is committed to providing safe, affirming, and empowering spaces for LGBTQ+ women. This includes mental health support, housing assistance, access to gender-affirming care, legal aid, crisis response, and protection from violence.
We collaborate with LGBTQ+ advocacy groups to expand inclusive healthcare services, push for anti-discrimination laws, and ensure trans and queer women are represented in policy decisions. We also facilitate peer networks and community groups that foster connection, resilience, and healing. Every woman deserves safety and respect—regardless of who she is or whom she loves.
