Elderly women—especially widows or those living alone—often face layered challenges of neglect, elder abuse, pension insecurity, ageism, and social isolation. Many live in poverty, without reliable access to healthcare, support services, or family care. Their lifelong contributions are often forgotten, and in some communities, they are even stigmatized or marginalized. When intersectional factors such as disability, widowhood, or past trauma are involved, the vulnerability increases. The rights and dignity of older women must not be overlooked—they deserve care, respect, safety, and visibility.
Awareness & Community Education
At WakeUp Her, we work to raise awareness about the unique needs and rights of elderly women through community education programs and intergenerational campaigns. We promote understanding of age-related vulnerabilities, challenge ageist stereotypes, and emphasize the value of elder women’s wisdom and lived experience.
We host community dialogues, caregiver training, and media campaigns to reduce stigma and promote respectful, inclusive treatment. Our education initiatives also highlight legal rights related to elder care, abuse prevention, inheritance, and social benefits, helping communities recognize their shared responsibility in uplifting aging women.
Support & Inclusive Elder Care
WakeUp Her provides and supports services that ensure elderly women are not left behind. These include access to healthcare navigation, pension and housing assistance, legal aid, emotional support groups, and elder abuse reporting channels.
We collaborate with senior centers, women’s shelters, and healthcare providers to offer age-friendly, women-centered programs, while also advocating for policy reforms in pensions, elder rights, and long-term care. By building a society that values and protects its older women, we honor the generations who paved the way and ensure that aging with dignity is a reality—not a privilege.
